Vanstead is a small, family-run camper conversion workshop based in the North East of England. We’re not a big factory line or a franchise – it’s just us, our tools and a steady stream of empty vans that turn into homes-on-wheels one build at a time.

We started Vanstead because travel, adventure and good living matter to us more than “vanlife aesthetics”. We like real trips: long drives to the coast, parking up on the moors, kids clambering into bed in the morning, proper food on the hob and a decent night’s sleep – not freezing on a lumpy mattress in a rattly box. When we couldn’t find conversions that felt like a genuine second home, we began building them ourselves.

Every build we take on is treated as if it were our own. That means solid materials, tidy wiring, insulation that actually works and layouts that make sense when you’re tired, wet and just want a brew. We’ll happily tell you what’s worth spending money on, what isn’t, and we’ll say no to things that’ll cause headaches for you later. No hard sell, no gimmicks – just honest advice and careful, considered work.

We’re proud of our part of the world and most of our test drives end up somewhere between the North York Moors and the Northumberland coast. But our vans travel far beyond that, carrying families, couples and solo travellers across the UK and into Europe, taking a little bit of North East craftsmanship with them wherever they go.
